Winemaking Process:

Wine fermented after partial destemming at controlled temperature, 24/28C., when the must reaches the desired sweetness, fermentation is then interrupted by adding brandy (77%), ageing in oak wood barrels for a minimum period of seven years, in our warehouses in Vila Nova de Gaia, till bottling.

Tasting Notes:

Pale tawny wine, with developed tertiary aromas, notes for the ?vinagrinho?, noble volatile acidity, and spices as pepper. We may also find the presence of dry fruits and a good wood.

At taste is complex, elegant and smooth confirming the aromas, with a fine inner nose, following a well prolonged final.

This 1977 harvest may be served as an aperitif with lobster canapés, black or orange caviar, as well as bacon rolled with prunes or bacon rolled with dates au gratin.

Excellent as a digestive or drank with strong flavour cheeses.

What is a "Porto Colheita"?

It's a high quality Port of a strict vintage. Matures in wooden barrels for at least seven years, after that period it can then be bottled.

When of the maturation in cask, the young, fruity and fresh aromas develop by an oxidation process; turn to a bouquet giving place to aromas of dry fruits, and also to toasting, wooden and spicy aromas. When of the ageing, it gains more softness, harmony and complexity in the bouquet.

The colour changes to tawny, getting some green hues in older wines.
