Winemaking Process:

Wine fermented after partial destemming at controlled temperature, 24/28C., when the must reaches the desired sweetness, fermentation is then interrupted by adding brandy (77%), ageing in oak wood barrels for a minimum period of seven years, in our warehouses in Vila Nova de Gaia, till bottling.

Tasting Notes:

Pale tawny wine, with personalised aromatic evolution, with well defined tertiary aromas, enhancing a noble wood with vanillas, good and elegant presence of the ?Vinagrinho?, noble volatile acidity, and spices, mild notes of pepper and clove with a slight nutmeg touch.

At taste is powerful and fresh revealing well its age, delighting us with its long after taste.

This 1980 Harvest shows itself as a perfect aperitif slightly chilled for summertime and for wintertime by the fire, together with dry fruits, poultry canapés with Cheddar, grilled mushrooms, hare meat balls, and others, bring us moments of relax and pleasure.

All alone, in the end of a meal, but also with strong cheeses or roasted buttered almonds; it?s worth of a royal table.

What is a "Porto Colheita"?

It's a high quality Port of a strict vintage. Matures in wooden barrels for at least seven years, after that period it can then be bottled.

When of the maturation in cask, the young, fruity and fresh aromas develop by an oxidation process; turn to a bouquet giving place to aromas of dry fruits, and also to toasting, wooden and spicy aromas. When of the ageing, it gains more softness, harmony and complexity in the bouquet.

The colour changes to tawny, getting some green hues in older wines.
